Mar. 14th, 2006 07:28 pmHere I am again. For the people I neglected to tell... um... I'm in Texas!
I'll gloss over the getting here part, although I will mention that Delta Airways planes aren't up to much and I think I may be still digesting the chicken from my gluten free meal. Eeeeww. I will definitely make myself up a little nosebag for the return journey.
Very, very exciting to be in the lift and see Deb waiting for me. She's been very, very ill so it was a real relief to see her looking so well. We piled everthing into the back of her friend Terry's 4x4 and immediately drove to Taco Cabana so I could purge my memory of the flight food and load up with tacos, salsa, guacamole and sour cream. Mmmmm. I got IDed for a margarita. This really made my day! I feel young! After thirds of taco, I consented to be driven home.
Today we went to a restaurant called N'awlins (New Orleans - I shudder at what the Americans do to their language!! Cause of course, we keep ours so pure...) and had crab cakes. Notice how my entries are always totally food-centric when I come here! I have been driving the family's little Honda Del Sol, feeling very cool. Never driven a 2 seater before. Wheee!
Tomorrow it's off to Austin for the first day of South by Southwest. I need to look up who's playing and make some big decisions about who to go and see. I seem to be really out of touch with Brit music this year, as I don't really recognise many bands at all.
It's my 3rd SXSW - getting to be a regular now. I like that :)
Right now, I'm sitting drinking beer and considering whether I want to make some nachos. Whoops, there goes the diet.
