I have been asleep for 3 hours already this evening. When my mum came into my room at 8pm, I thought it was morning - a truly terrible moment.

I was feeling quite good at the beginning of the week but have gone back to feeling pretty lousy. I finally plucked up the courage to go back to the doctors (hate, loathe and detest them) and I have to go and get blood taken from me tomorrow, which should be joyous. I'm not particularly bothered really, it's just inconvenient - not like I'm scared of needles or anything.

So fingers crossed the blood test will point to something that is causing me to crash like this. I'm not convinced, as chronic fatigue / post viral disorder doesn't necessarily show up in the kind of bog-standard blood tests you get through a GP, and I'm not gathering up hope.

Everyone is sick at work. Our office is a proper leper colony. I am ladling down the vitamins and keeping well out of the way. I so cannot afford to be ill.

Ho hum, off to write a nice snotty letter to the credit card company...

I don't usually do lyrics entries but, well, I find this song by The Poozies rather apt.

We Built Fires

We, we built fires, across this land
We, we built fires, back in dangerous times

There's a fire that burns in all our hearts
We should know better by this time
There are fires driving this world apart
Perhaps we should have seen the signs

And if I find myself alone in the night
I see my future in the flame
Scare myself so much I search for the light
I look for someone else to blame
Time and again

Here we go, into the flames once more
Like I've done before
On the walls our shadows holding hands
See our shadows dance
See our shadows dance

If it's power that enflames people's hearts
We've seen the dangers that released
That fire one day will blow this world apart
Until we learn to live with peace

We, we built fires, all across this land
We, we built fires, back in dangerous times

Today, our local radio station is playing cheesy rubbish and advertising the "Singles Connection." No Win No Fee claims companies are out touting their business on Sky TV. Manchester United and David Beckham's toenail shavings are still getting front line coverage. The Royal Family are up to their ears in problems...

...and British and US troops have moved into position at the southern border of Iraq.

Kind of brings everything into perspective really.
