Less bleurgh
Mar. 8th, 2003 03:30 pmI'm feeling a lot less bleurgh. I did the unthinkable (for me) and didn't go into work Thursday or Friday. Thursday I was feeling so rough that I couldn't even do my usual trick of sleeping until all the nastiness has gone away so the cat and I vegetated in front of daytime TV until I couldn't handle it any more - I draw the line at watching Trisha and Ironside... and then I caught up with admin and stuff because I find it practically impossible to sit down and do nothing even when feeling like death warmed up because I then feel guilty for "wasting time." A legitimate use of time when ill would be to concentrate on getting better, someone pointed out to me, but my mind can be selectively illogical at times.
Friday I was feeling well enough to sleep and managed to sleep from about 11pm til about 3pm the following day, proof positive that I'm run down. 16 hours, phew. I don't even remember what else I did on Friday, which is a bit worrying. Oh yes, as a very short notice favour, I babysat for next door's 3 year old, Pip, who was quite good fun and beat hell out of her bean bag bunny rabbit because it was being bad, showed me how she could wipe her own bottom and made me watch 3 episodes of the new Bill and Ben and her school play, where she was a snowflake. At 9pm, when I was ready to drop, despite having only been awake since 3pm, I managed to get her into bed. Then I watched the second half of Fellowship of the Ring (and got all misty eyed about loyal hobbit friendships and bonding and stuff) and some random thing on ITV about a woman making a video diary about getting a boob job. There's a reason I don't watch mainstream TV, I just realised.
Today I had a massage that I'd forgotten I'd booked, which was very nice and I definitely needed it. The woman used bergamot, rose and camomile, so I now smell lovely and hopefully it will be a bit uplifting.
