In fine North West of England style, there hasn't been so much as a stray snowflake in my part of the country. It's been clear blue skies and sub zero temperatures all day. I see that parts of Britain ground to a halt. Smug in the knowledge that we have the Gulf Stream and, even though we're the same latitude as Canada, we rarely get snow these days and so we don't prepare - and then look like a right bunch of wussies compared to the Canadians and Americans. My town doesn't even have a snowplough I don't think.

Tomorrow I have to go out to find something red to wear. I have lots of red jumpers but I wear them to work and I have to have party red not work red. One of my co-workers is having a birthday party and is celebrating the Chinese New Year at the same time. She said that we could either wear red, which is the colour of celebration or we could dress as the animal of our birth year. I am so not dressing up as a horse. Sorry, but no.

Work continues to be draining in the extreme. I am knackered and about to go to sleep. I wish I could make a snow dragon like Laura. That would be fun. When I was about seven, there was a heavy snow fall in my area and I organised all the other children into making a huge snow caterpilla. The thing was huge by the time we finished it - we made giant snowballs for its body segments and by the time they were deemed big enough, it took several children just to push one. Then we somehow managed to put one giant snowball on top of another to make it look like the caterpilla was rearing up and put antenna and eyes and a nose on him made out of twigs and horse chestnuts from the nearby trees. I dread to think what would have happened if the snowball had fallen at the wrong moment - squashed seven year olds... It was a huge achievement and the teachers were all gobsmacked when they saw it. But at 3pm when the younger kids got let out, they fell upon our poor caterpilla and kicked the poor thing to shreds. My friends and I hunted the culprits down and they had to make a public apology. Ha ha ha.

But I babble...
